Fifth Grade

Fifth-grade students prepare for the transition to middle school by strengthening skills in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate their ideas effectively.

Students learn through engaging lessons, hands-on activities, research projects, group collaboration, independent learning, technology, and classroom discussions. Teachers encourage students to think deeply, solve problems, and apply their knowledge to real-world situations.

Fifth-grade students will take more responsibility for their learning while building confidence and independence. Students will develop strong study habits, collaborate with peers, complete challenging assignments, and prepare for the next step in their educational journey.

• Set a Routine: Establish a consistent bedtime and morning routine to ensure your child is well-rested and ready for school each day. This is one of the most important gifts you can give your child: helping them learn the importance of a routine.
• Plan Around School Time: While vacations and appointments are sometimes necessary, try to schedule them during school breaks or after school hours to minimize disruptions.
• Communicate with Us: If your child is going to be absent due to illness or other reasons, please inform the school as soon as possible. We are here to support you and can help your child catch up on missed work.
• Encourage a Positive Attitude Toward School: Talk to your child about the importance of attending school and the exciting things they will learn each day. A positive attitude can make a world of difference!
• Please don’t ignore the 90% rule. All students must be in school 90% of the school year. This rule was established to set your child up for success. Students who are not present at school for 90% or more of the school year are at risk of academic struggles as well as social difficulties.Together, we can ensure that your child has the best possible foundation for success.
